Places to Visit in Egypt: Khan al Khalili

Khan al-Khalili is a major bazaar (and tourist attraction) in Cairo. The bazaar is a prime location to find neat knick knacks or unique clothing, and offers plenty of people-watching opportunities. Khan al-Khalili isn't quite as ambient as the medina in Fez, Morocco, the bazaar still has an interesting energy.Related Posts:Egypt Tourism: Written in Oil (video) ...

Egypt Tourism: Written in Oil

While outside a mosque in Khan al-Khalili, we saw a man who was writing the holy names of God and the prophet on people's hands with oil. He saw us and we saw him, so we asked what he was doing and he showed us.Related Posts:Places to Visit in Egypt: Khan al Khalili (video)Visit Egypt: Muslim Girl Jogs with Us in Cairo (video)Egypt Tourism: Lydian Practicing Arabic with an Arabic College ...

Egypt Tourism: Inside the Pyramids

During our 2014 visit to Egypt, we were able to go inside two of the Pyramids of Giza. In order to preserve the Egyptian pyramids, only 200-300 visitors are allowed to go inside the pyramids per day. And, visitors are only allowed to go inside of two, since restoration projects are ongoing and run on a cycle. Since there were so few tourists in Cairo when we visited the Pyramids, we were lucky enough to go ...

Egypt Tourism: In the Desert after the Camel Ride

After our camel ride into the desert, we finally arrived at a campsite where we'd sit for a while as the camels rested and got a snack. The camel ride we went on was at sunset, so the desert was glowing in golden light and the pyramids could be seen clearly on the horizon. There were some sand-colored kitties milling around and rugs carefully placed on top of the sand to create a cozy sort of environment ...

Egypt Tourism: Camel Ride to the Pyramids

On our first visit to Egypt in 2014 we stayed in Nazlet a-Sammam, a village right beside the Pyramids of Giza. While we were staying there, we discussed the possibility of going camel riding into the desert, but ruled out the possibility when we looked into in further noting that there might be some iffiness involved. But, one day when we were walking to get bottled water at a little store right next to our ...
