Giant Lily Pads on a Tributary along the Amazon River

These giant lily pads along the Amazon River are an interesting example of plant-life in this part of the world. Known as Victoria Amazonica, they grow in the shallower areas of the river and give off a fruity scent to attract insects for pollination. When that doesn't work, their little flowers heat up at their core. The leaves can grow so big that they can hold up to 50 pounds of weight.
