The traffic in Varanasi is hard to describe. The streets are filled to overflowing with cars, rickshaws, mopeds carrying goats and gas cans, bicycles piled high with plastic tubs, pedestrians including sadhus, cows, and kids. We never left our hotel room without a guide to help us navigate the streets, which is really saying something because we have never needed a guide before or since that time in any other city in the world. Varanasi is a cacophony of everything you can imagine from snake charmers, to drug addicts, sick cows, and amazing things like the Hindu Fire Ritual. Everyone should go see it.
