Crossing the street in Beijing, takes a little practice. It isn’t as dangerous as crossing the street in Varanasi, India, but at the time of our visit, it struck us as strange and a little crazy. We stand for a while on a bridge and watch people cross the street in Beijing and how the traffic veers around the pedestrians after they venture out into the street. I’m sure it seems organized enough to the Beijing-ers who cross the street every day, but Americans find this kind of street-crossing confusing.
