Hotels in Beijing China: The Yongdingmen

The Yongdingmen Hotel was our “home” while we were in Beijing. In this video, Lydian gives a quick tour of our triple room that we stayed in for 15 days in 2011. Though the beds were a little hard for our taste, the room was relatively clean and it was nice having a separate space for Lydian in our room. There was a restaurant downstairs that served some good dishes that included some exotic ingredients like lotus root. We often bought steamed bread and took it with us for the road. There was even a grocery store within a short distance from the Yongdingmen Hotel.

We walked for about 30 minutes each day to get to the Puhuangyu Subway Station. From there, we could go wherever we wanted all over the city. It may seem like a long walk, but there was a lot that went on between the Yongdingmen Hotel and Puhuangyu. People built windows, sold fruit, danced, and sold things off of blankets. Overall, we were happy with our stay at the Yongdingmen and if we ever went back to Beijing, we’d probably opt to stay there again. The Beijing Subway system can take you anywhere you need to go, just be aware that during rush hour, it can be a challenge squeezing onto, into, and off of the subway.
