We stayed at the Yongdingmen Hotel while we were in Beijing and we were able to set up a ride through them to the Great Wall at Mutianyu during our initial days in the city. This video shows portions of the car trip to Mutianyu. It was quite a distance, perhaps an hour or more to get there, but ride was interesting. Later, we took a bus on our own to the Badaling section of the Great Wall and that was MUCH more challenging.
