Protestors Near Hermosillo, Mexico on Highway 15

We’d read about protestors closing down toll booths and letting people through for free, but we hadn’t seen any until we got close to Hermosillo. In this video, we drive through a toll booth for free and wave to some protestors.

The 2017 protests in Mexico were due to a gas price hike of 14-20% that went into effect on January 1st. We expected for the protestors to be angry, and in fact, I believe they were angry with their government, but they weren’t angry at their fellow countrymen or us, for that matter. For that we were really grateful.
