Before we left home, I looked for organized Tai Chi classes in Beijing, but couldn’t find any. By the time we left Beijing, I’d seen countless informal groups working on forms in the morning in various spaces through-out the city including Yongdingmen Square, outside the Forbidden City, and just beyond the ticket entrance to the Temple of Heaven (as shown in this video). As far as I could tell, there was no charge for these group sessions. I’m not sure when they officially met each morning, but these groups seemed friendly overall. Interested travelers could probably join in with a Tai Chi group in Beijing as long as they were respectful and not disruptive.
